If you're looking for a themed Las Vegas wedding, look no further than the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel - Voted Best Las Vegas Wedding Chapel 2011 by staff of the Las Vegas Review Journal. While they offer a wide range of romantic and traditional wedding ceremonies including garden and gazebo ceremonies, this Vegas wedding chapel runs rings around the opposition when it comes to the sheer scale of their imagination on themed weddings. As well as a huge range of Elvis weddings where Elvis can actually act as your minister as well as the entertainment, they have some pretty unusual options for your Big Day. James Bond weddings? Check. Vampire themed weddings? Check. Mob-themed Gangster weddings? You bet your bottom dollar it's a check!
Any chapel that can offer themed weddings from Liberace to Alice Cooper is a very good thing in our books, so we caught up with Mr "Viva Las Vegas" himself - Ron Decar - for some answers.
Q) Thanks for talking to us today, Ron. Can you tell us - when did you set up the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel?
A) I have actually been in the Wedding business since 1995. I was performing themed weddings from the beginning at other chapels in town to see if it would work. It certainly seemed to, and so we opened Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel in the current location at 1205 Las Vegas Boulevard in 1999.
Q) Why is your chapel different? - why should Las Vegas brides-to-be choose you?
A) We are the only Chapel that has true themed weddings complete with sets, props, theatrical lighting & fog. And we have costumed characters that can marry you including James Bond, Dracula, Michael Jackson - and of course Elvis.
Q) How did you get into the weddings business?
A) I was a singer in town for years. I started singing for weddings and saw how the Wedding Chapel business was run, and thought of a better way of doing it that could be more fun and memorable. I also wanted our weddings to be unique and to allow all couples the ability to express themselves and have their wedding their way - so Viva Las Vegas Weddings does just that!
Q) Why do you think Elvis lives on in Las Vegas weddings?
A) Well, we as the best Elvis wedding chapel in the city have kept him alive by impersonating him all these years! The marketing alone keeps him in the eye of the public, and all of us at Viva Las Vegas Weddings were professional singers on the Las Vegas Strip so we can do him justice every time we sing his songs!
Q) What are the most popular weddings at the chapel?
A) Well Elvis is the mainstay but we also offer Gothic, James Bond, Austin Powers, Beach Party, Bluez Brothers, Rock-n-Roll, & about 25 other themes that couples can pick from.
Q) What are the oddest requests you've ever had?
A) Many people bring their pets, but the strangest thing was marrying a couple dressed as Mr & Mrs Potato Head! [yep - we agree that's odd!]
Q) Have any celebrities tied the knot at your wedding chapel?
A) Well Erin Brokovich and her husband married with us, as well as a number of stars including Matt LeBlanc, Craig Ferguson, George Eads from CSI, Gene Simmons from KISS, Jenny McCarthy - and the most famous was Angelina Jolie who was Maid of Honor to Jillian Armenante. I also married Meg Matthews and Noel Gallagher from Oasis!
Q) How is Viva Las Vegas Weddings linked to the Gothic Wedding Chapel?
A) This one of our many websites www.GothicWeddings.com. I love Halloween and the Gothic wedding is one of my favorites!
Q) As a Las Vegas insider, what are your top tips for visitors?
A) Well there are so many great places to eat and things to see - if you've never been here, let me tell you that Vegas has it all! But one of my favorite restaurants is Brio. I'd say The Best Mall is Town Square, and the best shows are both from Cirque du Soleil - Viva Elvis at the Aria Hotel and Zumanity at New York, New York!
