Flamingo Hotel Wedding Chapels - the inside story

3 June 2011

If you're looking for an historic Las Vegas hotel, look no further than The Flamingo. Right in the middle of the Strip, this iconic hotel has a colourful past and is now home to some beautiful wedding venues.

The Flamingo Hotel was the third resort to open on the Strip in 1946, and the oldest resort on the Strip still in operation today. The hotel has had a colourful past - Bugsy Seigel and the Mob helped build it, Elvis was a pool boy here in 'Viva Las Vegas', and the original Rat Pack 'Ocean's Eleven' was also filmed here.

We caught up with Kristen LaBuda from the Flamingo Hotel Wedding Chapels to find out more.

Q) Thanks for talking to us today Kristen. When was the wedding chapel at The Flamingo established?

A) The Flamingo Garden Chapel opened in April, 1995.

Q) Why should brides-to-be choose you?

A) The Garden Chapel differs from the competition in Las Vegas because we offer five self standing chapels, each located on the lush garden grounds that are secreted behind the Flamingo Hotel.

Q) Why do you think Elvis lives on in Las Vegas weddings?

A) Elvis will always be an icon because he rose to fame around the same time that Vegas did. He played a huge role in shaping Vegas into what it is today, and Vegas was always there for Elvis when he needed a place to call home.

Q) What are the most popular weddings at the various chapels?

A) Our couples love our Butterfly Kisses package, the Dream Flamingo Package, and the Tulip packages.  Butterfly Kisses offers wonderful flower options and a butterfly ceremony.  Dream Flamingo Package includes hair and makeup at Alexandra's Salon at Flamingo Las Vegas as well as gift bags for your guests.  The Tulip package is a popular package because it includes a little of everything and is moderately priced.

Q) What are the most unusual requests you've ever had?

A) All of our couples are unique and we want their weddings to be just as special. We have so many personal requests but never anything too difficult for us to create.

Q) Have any celebrities tied the knot at your chapels?

A) We've had several celebrity best men and attendants... but we have sworn to keep their names secret!

Q) As a Las Vegas insider, what are your top tips for visitors? (favorites restaurants, shops, shows etc?)

A) I love hanging out at Toby Keith's 'I Love This Bar' and Carnaval Court at Harrah's Las Vegas. Ember's Steakhouse at the Imperial Palace is to die for, no kidding and no exaggeration!

The Spa at Flamingo Las Vegas is a great place to burn off wedding jitters and stress before and after the ceremony.
