22 December 2013
It's been 12 months already, and with 2014 just around the corner, we thought this was the perfect time to reflect on what 2013 has meant for Vegas and its wedding chapels.
1) Celebrity-tastic. Vegas has a reputation for offering low key weddings ceremonies to the great and the good since the 1940s, and this year rumours started to circulate that a certain Miss Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are considering Sin City for their forthcoming wedding. Britney Spears is also rumoured to be planning her second wedding in Vegas - and as she has just opened a run of shows at Planet Hollywood it would pretty convenient for her. Let's hope her second Vegas marriage lasts longer than the first.
2) Fake weddings are now 'a thing'. There have always been weddings, vow renewals and more recently commitment ceremonies for same-sex couples, but this year saw the coming of the faux/fake/fun/not-legally-binding ceremony for the commitment phobes - or plain drunk - out there. We fully expect more chapels to offer the same in 2014.
3) It shows no sign of stopping - new wedding chapels are still opening. Two new chapels opened in 2013; the beautiful high end chapel at the Aria Hotel with sophisticated, traditional wedding ceremonies. And you can now get married at Denny's too. Yes, the fast food place.
We love you Las Vegas - here's to an even more fabulous 2014!
